Manufacturing Technician

We are seeking a Manufacturing Technician!

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE:

Manufacturing Technicians support a broad range of manufacturing projects and activities, including the repair and upkeep of manufacturing equipment and the support of new manufacturing initiatives for both current and future state operations.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:

  • Design, fabricate, assemble, and qualify fixtures and tools for use in various manufacturing processes. Perform complex tool making procedures that require fitting and assembling parts and adjusting components to meet requirements.
  • Modify or repair existing fixtures, tools, and dies.
  • Design, fabricate, and install workstation equipment including, but not limited to, benches, racks, tool rails, carts, and assembly aids.
  • Proactively interact with shop floor associates, leads, supervisors, and management to research, communicate, prioritize, and follow-up on tasks and project work.
  • Act as a technical resource to manufacturing and other departments to address and resolve production process inquiries and problems.
  • Monitor proper and safe use of all equipment in the MFGE Tech Lab. Conduct training for users as required.
  • Lead by example and monitor adherence to 5S standards in the MFGE Tech Lab. Keep work area (tools, materials and equipment) clean and orderly.
  • Participate with teams formed to create and implement continuous improvement efforts in systems, procedures, and facility layouts.
  • Support Manufacturing Engineering on projects by working closely with engineering support groups, including Quality and Robot Specialists, to troubleshoot and assist manufacturing activities.

WHAT THIS ROLE NEEDS:

Education/Experience: Requires up to three years of related experience; or High School diploma/GED and three to five years of progressively responsible related experience; or a combination of education and experience.

Technology/Equipment: Knowledge of or aptitude to learn welding, metal fabrication, and machining processes. Basic knowledge of electric and pneumatic circuits. Knowledge and understanding of GD&T a plus. Proficiency operating a fork truck and scissor lift. Ability to operate a variety of small hand and power tools, tool room machines, and precision measuring devices.

Additional Skills: Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and basic electrical/electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic schematics. Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with other employees in the organization to plan and implement manufacturing improvement processes.

Physical Demands: Use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials. Must be able to move around safely in the manufacturing environment. May lift up to 50 pounds with good body mechanics.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Working Environment:

Use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials. Must be able to move around safely in the manufacturing environment. May lift up to 50 pounds with good body mechanics.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, occasionally loud.
