Regional Sales Manager

JOB SUMMARY: Manages all sales and distribution activities, including distributor prospecting, appointments and development within an assigned territory to achieve optimum market performance and market share for the Western Brand. †

*The preferred candidate will reside in the Minneapolis/St Paul MN area*


  1. Responsible for all territory activities.
  1. Conduct present and potential market surveys for new and/or supplemental distribution
  1. Responsible for distribution development, including sales growth.
  1. Attend national and regional industry trade shows as well as distributor shows and open houses
  1. Develop, discuss and implement sales and marketing plans and objectives with distributors.
  1. Maintain a competitor database for assigned market area
  1. Responsible for distributor sales training, including regional and individual sales schools, including the ability to present one-on-one as well as large distributor groups.
  1. Accurately and concisely report distributor activity, product concerns and other field intelligence in a timely manner through the provided CRM software
  1. Participate as required with continuous improvement teams related to products, systems and procedures.
  1. Assist in gathering competitive intelligence, programming and pricing
  1. Understand and confidently use the vehicle selection list and all electronic tools provided.
  1. Meet all product and distribution goals and continually look for opportunities to grow the business
  1. Responsible for effective management of time and expenses related to territory travel.
  1. Extensive travel is anticipated, particularly during the pre-season period (April-June). Occasional weekend commitments will be required. 70%-80% travel is anticipated.
  1. Promote the company wide effort to make Douglas Dynamics, Inc. the leader in all markets served.

Education: Bachelorís degree in Business Administration or Marketing or equivalent.

Communication Skills: Should possess a high level of written/verbal communication skills as well as presentation skills

Technical Skills: Must have basic knowledge of truck equipment industry including truck-related terms, applications, competitive information, etc.

Computer Skills: Must have working knowledge of Windows-based programs to include Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.

Mathematical Skills: Position requires college-level mathematical skills

Reasoning Ability: Must have strong analytical skills and the ability to think logically and practically before making decisions

Physical Demands: Must be able to sit down for extended periods of time. Position also requires some lifting, not to exceed 50lbs.

Work Environment: Must maintain a positive and safe working environment for co-workers and customers

Company Vehicle: Must have valid driver's license and ability to drive company demo truck with snow removal attachments throughout territory.
